FG endorses World Sango Festival - Says it’s an International Festival

The federal government, through the Ministry of Culture and National Orientation, has expressed the need to endorse the World Sango Festival after what was communicated to it by the Government of Brazil as regards the desire expressed by a majority of Brazilians, particularly the state of Bahia.

These Yoruba race attended the maiden edition of the festival in Oyo last year.

The endorsement letter read in parts, the Government, having satisfied itself of the great heritage in the festival, which is geared towards the
preservation of our culture will have no doubts adopting and endorsing the World Sango Festival.

The Minister said he was moved by this interest as expressed by the Brazilians. "This means there is so
much hope for our tourism industry, as other countries celebrate our culture."

The minister expressed the government's appreciation to Brasil for extending support to this
festival to meet the yearnings and aspiration of the culture lovers in diaspora who would wish to come to
their ancestral roots to still align yearly with their ancestral lineage.

According the cultural ambassador to the Alaafin of Oyo, Ms Paula Gomes, a Portuguese cultural
enthusiast and experts, she said it's over whelming the interest that Brazil had shown in the heritage of the Yoruba in Bahia, In another twist, the people of Trinidad and Tobago
have also expressed interest in coming for the forthcoming next edition of the festival, just as the
world executive body of WSF has appointed regional representatives in Brazil, Carrebean Island and Argentina.

The representative for the Caribbean,
Olakela Massetunji, has expressed high optimism about making the world sango festival a global event.

He was appreciative of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III for his appointment Speaking about the festival, the media consultant, the executive chairman of Logica Media Group, Biodun Ajiboye, said he met with the Director General
of Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation, Mrs Sally Mbanefo, and she really appreciated the heritage of this culture.

She was said to have given her support and equally her corporate endorsement for the festival which
takes place August 21st to 30th, 2014 at the palace ground.
