Abuja Bomb Blast: Victims Face Hunger Pains At Hospitals

Scores were killed and many sustained injuries
in the massive explosion that occurred in the
early hours of Monday at the crowded Nyanya Bus Terminus in Abuja.
Those who survived the blast were rushed to the hospital were they are receiving treatment but it seems they don't only have to suffer the pain of the injuries but also hunger pains.

receiving treatment at the Maitama hospital said he had left his home early on the day of the
incident, so he missed his breakfast. Throughout Monday, he ate nothing as the hospital made no provision for food and he remained hungry till Tuesday morning when journalist visited the hospital, adding that he had to endure not only pains but the pangs of hunger.
Abubakar said, "I did not eat anything I was too
weak to eat but at midnight I couldn't sleep of
hunger, the last time I ate was on Sunday
evening, but there was no food provision. Some
people from the mosque came here to give me
bread and tea this morning, the hospital only
gave us injections and drips. I am still hungry,
broke and with no money."
Another survivor, Salome Jim, a bus ticket vendor said though they treated her and took care of her without asking for money, they didn't give her food and she had to go to bed with an empty stomach
"I have been sitting down here waiting for a
surgery, I am in pain, I am very hungry. No one
has come here to give me food, I can neither walk nor move, the nurses and doctors are nice to me but they didn't give me food ," she said.
A staff of the hospital who pleaded anonymity
revealed that some cannot eat due to their
medical conditions but those that can eat should be given food.
When asked why the victims had not been fed,
health minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu, couldn't give a direct answer.
However, the Federal Capital health secretary,
Onoke Emaiye, who accompanied the minister
admitted it was the responsibility of the
government to feed victims of the blast.
