[Sport]: Mikel’s Chelsea days threatened •Yaya Toure proves class in City win

CHELSEA are looking to offload Nigerian midfielder, John Mikel Obi, reports in England said on Saturday.

Mikel was not dressed in Saturday’s late-minute 1-0 win over Everton fuelling speculations that the Nigerian may have to look elsewhere at the end of the season.

As long-term replacement, Chelsea are looking atvthe prospects of signing Olympique Marseille’s Gianelli Imbula.

Since the return of Jose Mourinho, there have been speculations about the future of Mikel at Chelsea.
At a time, it was said that he was about to join AS Monaco in France and later, Galatasaray in Turkey but was encouraged after he got a couple of games under his belt scoring two rare goals against Fulham in the first round of the EPL and against Derby County in the FA Cup.

However, the arrival of Nemanja Matic from Benfica has seen Mikel losing his shirt as Chelsea’s main player in the holding role.

Meanwhile, the man who beat Mikel to the 2013 African Footballer of The Year title, Yaya Toure of The Ivory Coast proved his class when on Saturday
he scored Man City’s only goal in the 1-0 win over a stubborn Stoke City at the Eth ihad.

Toure swept in a low Aleksandar Kolarov cross in the 70th minute to stay three points behind the Premier League leaders Chelsea with one game outstanding.
